Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has signed a new contract with the club until 2031, bringing an end to months of speculation over his future.
The 21-year-old, who joined United’s academy in 2014, has made 98 senior appearances and scored the winning goal in the 2024 Football Association Challenge (FA) Cup final, while also featuring for England in the Euro 2024 final.
Mainoo said the club has always felt like home to him and holds deep personal significance for his family, adding that he understands the responsibility of representing Manchester United and embraces it.
“Manchester United has always been my home — this special club means everything to my family.
“I have grown up seeing the impact that our club has on our city, and I relish the responsibility that comes with wearing this shirt.”

United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, described Mainoo as one of the most naturally talented young players in the game. He noted that the midfielder’s technical quality, professionalism and character make him a strong example for younger players and a product of the club’s academy system.
Wilcox added that the club is pleased to have secured Mainoo’s future and believes he has the potential to grow into a key figure capable of helping the team compete for major honours.
“His technical ability, dedicated professionalism and humble personality make him the perfect role model for our young players and a true credit to our outstanding academy system,” he said.
“We are delighted that Kobbie has extended his stay here and have full confidence that he will develop into one of the best players in the world, ready to play a pivotal role in a Manchester United team challenging for the biggest honours.”
