Morocco’s Royal Air Maroc has suspended 12 flight routes across Africa and Europe due to rising fuel prices and weaker passenger demand on some international destinations.

According to Reuters, the airline said the temporary decision was prompted by the soaring cost of kerosene, one of the biggest operating expenses for airlines, as well as reduced traffic on affected routes.

Routes suspended from Casablanca include flights to Kinshasa, Brazzaville, Yaounde, and Libreville.

Flights from Marrakech to Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux, and Brussels have also been suspended, along with services from Tangier to Malaga and Barcelona. The company stated the route suspensions are temporary and will be reviewed based on changes in fuel prices and market conditions.

Global fuel costs have increased following disruptions to international shipping linked to the ongoing US-Israel conflict with Iran, putting additional pressure on airline operations worldwide.
