Muftwang Vows Action After Barkin Ladi Killings

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has assured residents of Ding community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area that Plateau State “will be preserved” following the latest violent attack that claimed several lives and displaced residents.

Speaking during a visit to the affected community alongside the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr Bernard M. Doro, the governor said he came not to make speeches, but to personally assess the situation and console grieving families.

“I decided to come in here to see things for myself,” Mutfwang said. “Let me, first of all, bring my condolences to the entire Ding community.”

“I’m pained that today I have to come to commiserate with you,” he said. “It’s a community that I cherish very well.”

Mutfwang assured residents that the state government and security agencies were already working to contain the crisis and close operational gaps identified during the violence. He also encouraged farmers preparing for the planting season not to abandon their livelihoods out of fear.

“Prepare to go back to farm,” he said. “We’ll ensure that you not only farm, but you will go to farm and return safely.”

The governor revealed that authorities were investigating rumours alleging the involvement of a security operative in the killings.

Despite the allegations, Mutfwang cautioned residents against losing confidence in security agencies, insisting that most personnel were carrying out their responsibilities professionally.

He added that the government had identified weaknesses in the security response and was already working with relevant agencies on new strategies to prevent further attacks.
