The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed circulating lists of alleged winners of its Enugu State primary elections, describing them as unauthorised and misleading.

The party said that while its primary elections were successfully conducted across the state for all elective positions, no official results had been released despite reports trending on social media.

Speaking to journalists in Enugu on Saturday, the NDC National Secretary, Mr Ikenna Morgan, confirmed that the primaries held on Friday, May 29, 2026, were conducted by direct voting involving all eligible party members.

He said the exercise covered the presidency, governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly positions and was conducted in line with the Electoral Act and the party’s constitution under the supervision of the party’s National Electoral Committee and observers from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“The Nigeria Democratic Congress successfully conducted its primary elections in Enugu State on Friday, May 29, 2026. The process was monitored by our National Electoral Committee and observed by representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

“The exercise was orderly, transparent and conducted in line with the Electoral Act and the constitution of our great party. It was a direct primary in which every eligible member of the party voted for their preferred candidate,” Morgan said.

Morgan described the exercise as orderly and transparent, noting that the the collation of votes had been completed, but the final results remained in the custody of the party’s leadership structure.

He, however, cautioned against the spread of unofficial results, stressing that no individual or platform had been authorised to announce outcomes of the primaries.

“The results of the primary elections have been duly collated by the party. However, contrary to several reports circulating online, no official announcement has yet been made by the National Electoral Committee or the national leadership of the party. Any individual or platform claiming to possess or announce official results is acting without authorisation,” Morgan added.

According to him, only the party’s designated constitutional channels will communicate the official results once internal verification and ratification processes are concluded.

Morgan assured aspirants of fairness and due process, adding that successful candidates would be formally communicated to INEC after internal procedures are completed.
