The Nigerian Government has empowered millions of citizens through grants, medical and education interventions, and livelihood support programmes.

This was announced at the National Women Mega Empowerment and Rally 2026, themed “The Power of 10 Million: One Voice, One Movement, One Choice.”

According to the organisers, the initiative is designed to strengthen women’s participation across all sectors of the economy. Women representatives from Nigeria’s 9,410 wards are participating in the programme.

At the event, one of the speakers said ₦50 million grants were distributed to 250 beneficiaries in each state. She added that female traders, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups have benefited from livelihood support and interventions in health, agriculture, and education.

“Elderly women and social protection, where over 10,000 elderly beneficiaries have received 200,000 Naira per beneficiary. It is so structured that over 50 million Naira has been allocated per state, including the FCT,” she said.

“In the health sector, there have been women-focused interventions with over 1 billion Naira donated for tuberculosis diagnostic equipment. 1 billion Naira donated to the National Cancer Fund for Cervical Cancer Prevention and the donation of mobile clinics to expand healthcare outreach. In direct cash and humanitarian support, more than 500 million Naira have been given to victims of insecurity in Maiduguri State.”

She added that over ₦427 million has been disbursed to 1,709 widows and orphans, while ₦1 billion was allocated to vulnerable groups in Niger State. In addition, over ₦250,000 in grants was provided to flood victims in Abuja through direct household support.

According to her, the empowerment programme is an initiative of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, implemented with the support of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu.

“This is just setting the tone to show us that the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, through the Renewed Hope Agenda and the wife of the President, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, through the Renewed Hope Initiative, have Nigerian women, the girls, the widows and the vulnerable in mind,” she added.

The National Women Mega Empowerment and Rally 2026 targets women across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas, focusing on providing grants, skills development, and expanding support for Nigerian women to enhance economic inclusion and sustainability.
