Nigeria’s Ambassador to the State of Israel, Ambassador Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu, has formally presented her Letters of Credence to Israeli President Isaac Herzog, officially assuming office as Nigeria’s chief diplomatic representative in the country.
The credential presentation ceremony, held on Monday, marked the formal commencement of her diplomatic mission and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening its long-standing bilateral relationship with Israel.
Speaking after the ceremony, Ambassador Ufochukwu conveyed the goodwill of President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian people to the Government and people of Israel. She pledged to deepen cooperation between both countries and expand existing partnerships for their mutual benefit.
According to the ambassador, her priorities include boosting trade and investment, enhancing collaboration in agriculture and food security, promoting technology and innovation, strengthening defence and security cooperation, improving healthcare partnerships, and encouraging cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
President Herzog welcomed the Nigerian envoy and reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to working closely with Nigeria in areas of shared interest, particularly innovation, economic development and counter-terrorism.
Diplomatic observers say Ambassador Ufochukwu’s appointment comes at a time when both countries are seeking to expand economic cooperation and unlock new opportunities in technology, agriculture and investment.
Her deployment is widely seen as a renewed effort to elevate Nigeria-Israel relations and strengthen strategic collaboration between both nations.
