The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) predicted widespread cloudy conditions, thunderstorms, and moderate rainfall across Nigeria from Sunday through Tuesday.
Northern states expect sunny skies interspersed with patches of clouds and scattered morning light rains before heavier afternoon thunderstorms hit areas like Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara.
The North Central and southern regions will face similar patterns, with morning showers giving way to moderate afternoon rains across states including Niger, Oyo, Delta, and the Federal Capital Territory.
NiMet warned that strong winds may precede the downpours and urged the public to take immediate safety precautions.

“Driving under heavy rain should be avoided,” the agency stated, while instructing residents to “disconnect electrical appliances from electrical sockets” and stay away from tall trees to avoid falling branches.
NiMet also advised airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports for effective flight planning.
