Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has returned to South African club Chippa United ahead of the 2026/27 season, five months after leaving the side on February 5, 2026.
Nwabali rejoins the Chilli Boys after spending several months away from competitive football following his departure from the club in February 2026, a period that affected his place in Nigeria’s senior national team.
Chippa United announced his return on Sunday via its official social media platforms.
In a statement, the club stated, “After taking time away, Stanley Nwabali returns to the Eastern Cape, and we are pleased to welcome him back to the club.”

The 30-year-old joined Chippa United in 2022 and rose to prominence after his impressive performances for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, where the Super Eagles finished as runners-up.
His recent lack of regular club football affected his form and cost him his place in the Super Eagles squad.
Nwabali will now plan to regain his spot in the national team by securing consistent playing time with Chippa United ahead of upcoming international matches.
