NYSC Makes NERD Clearance Mandatory For Corps Members

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has made National Electronic Registration Database (NERD) clearance compulsory for prospective corps members, warning that those without the verification will not be mobilised for national service.

The scheme announced the directive in a notice shared on its official X account on Monday, urging prospective corps members to complete the clearance process early to avoid delays.

“This is to inform PCMs (Prospective Corps Members) that without NERD clearance, no NYSC. Get your NERD clearance early. Avoid delays in your mobilisation,” NYSC stated.

The scheme further stressed that the requirement is mandatory for all eligible graduates preparing for mobilisation.

“NERD clearance is compulsory for all PCMs. No NERD clearance, No NYSC!!!” it added.

The latest directive comes as NYSC begins preparations for the mobilisation of a new batch of corps members for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ service year.

The scheme also advised prospective corps members to complete all necessary documentation ahead of the orientation exercise.

NYSC recently issued safety guidelines to corps members travelling to orientation camps, warning them against night journeys and urging them to use safe locations or designated security formations when necessary.
