The Oyo State Government has lifted the curfew imposed on 10 local government areas following a major kidnapping incident in Oriire.
Authorities enforced a 16-hour curfew on the affected communities before extending it by an extra day on Thursday.
In an official statement issued on Saturday, June 27, the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, announced that residents can now resume their normal daily activities while expressing appreciation for the cooperation and patience shown by the local public.
Oyelade stated that the government continues to closely monitor the security situation and reassured the public that security forces are actively working to resolve the kidnapping incident entirely.
The lifted curfew affects Oriire, Orelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo, and Atiba local government areas.

The security crisis began on May 15 when gunmen stormed three separate schools in Esiele—Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota Community Grammar School, and L.A. Primary School and abducted 45 pupils and teachers.
Days after the raid, the attackers reportedly killed one of the abducted victims, who worked as a mathematics teacher at one of the schools.
