PDP Chieftain, Daniel Orbih Dies at 64

Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, a prominent leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State and the party’s National Vice Chairman for the South-South zone, has died at the age of 64.

Orbih’s family confirmed his passing, saying he left behind his wife, Florence, his daughters Winifred and Dr Mildred, as well as his brothers, sisters and extended family members. They requested prayers and support as preparations for his funeral arrangements continue.

A major figure in Edo politics, Orbih was known for his influence within the PDP and his years of political engagement in the state. His death has drawn tributes from political leaders, associates and those who worked closely with him.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, described Orbih as one of Edo State’s “biggest political trees,” paying tribute to his role, loyalty and contributions to public life.

Wike and Orbih had maintained a close political relationship over the years, with the late PDP leader regarded as a key ally in the party’s South-South structure.

Beyond party politics, Orbih also served as Chairman of the Governing Council of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, where he contributed to the institution’s administration and development.
