Proline FC have won their first Uganda Cup trophy after beating Bright Stars 5-4 on penalties. The match played at the Masaka Recreational ground saw Proline become the first team from the lower tier to win the competition.

Bright Stars captain Nelson Ssenkatuka gave them the lead before Mustafa Mujuzi leveled matters in the last minute of normal time. Fred Kajoba’s side ended the game with 10-men following two bookings shown to Aggrey Kirya.

The match went to penalties, Mujuzi, Bright Anukani, Allan Egaku, Ivan Bogere, and Kiwanuka all scored past Bright Stars goalkeeper Hamza Muwonge while Farouk Katongole, Sam Sekitto, Rajab Kakooza, Methodius Jungu were on target before Proline goalkeeper Hassan Matovu stopped Senkatuka’s penalty to help his side win 5-4.

Bright Stars’ Benson Wagima was voted best goalkeeper of the tournament while Proline’s Mustafa Mujuzi finished top scorer and MVP.

Proline will represent Uganda in the CAF Confederation Cup.
