The Senate has again declined a request to investigate the controversy surrounding the alleged Director-General of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council/Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PEAC/PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi, citing ongoing judicial and executive actions.
Senator Suleiman Kawu raised the matter under urgent public importance, arguing that the National Assembly has a constitutional duty to conduct its own oversight despite investigations by the executive. It was his second unsuccessful attempt to secure a Senate probe.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio ruled that launching a separate legislative investigation would be inappropriate because the matter is already before the court and President Bola Tinubu has directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the allegations within 30 days.
The controversy centres on Adeyemi, who allegedly presented himself as the head of the disputed council and now faces an eight-count charge bordering on forgery, fraud and impersonation. Authorities accuse him of forging a presidential appointment letter, official State House documents and falsely claiming to head the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council.
Justice Muhammed Umar of the Federal High Court earlier ordered Adeyemi’s arrest after he failed to appear for arraignment. He is expected to be produced before the court on September 30 as legal proceedings continue.
