World number one Jannik Sinner etched his name in tennis history at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia, securing his 32nd consecutive ATP Masters 1000 victory to break the record previously held by Novak Djokovic.
The Italian defeated Andrey Rublev 6-2, 6-4 in the quarter-finals, making history by surpassing Djokovic’s record of 31 consecutive Masters 1000 wins, which had stood since 2011.
Sinner’s remarkable streak began at the Rolex Paris Masters in November, where he defeated Zizou Bergs and went on to claim the title. Since that victory, the 24-year-old has dominated the Masters 1000 circuit, becoming the first player since Roger Federer in 2017 to complete the ‘Sunshine Double’ with wins at the BNP Paribas Open and Miami Open. Additionally, Sinner is the first player to achieve this feat without losing a set.

The Italian continued his stellar form during the clay-court season, securing victories at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters and Mutua Madrid Open. In Madrid, Sinner made history by becoming the first player to win five consecutive Masters 1000 titles.
With only two sets lost in his 32-match winning streak, Sinner’s consistency has been nothing short of extraordinary, even setting a record by winning 37 consecutive sets during his run.
Should he win the title in Rome, he will join an elite group of players, including Djokovic, who have completed the Career Golden Masters. Sinner would also become the first Italian men’s singles champion in Rome since Adriano Panatta in 1976.
