An airstrike by Israel on a town in eastern Lebanon has killed six people, including four children, according to the Lebanese health ministry. The incident was reported to be separate from a nearby commando operation.

“The Israeli enemy raid on the town of Shmistar in the Baalbek district at dawn resulted in the killing of six citizens, including four children and a woman,” the ministry said in a statement.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported that the victims were members of the same family who had been displaced from the city of Baalbek amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah.

The strike occurred in the town of Shmistar in the Baalbek district, an area that has witnessed repeated bombardments since hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah intensified during the broader regional confrontation.
