Leaders and ministers from across Southern Africa have gathered in Pretoria as the Southern African Development Community (SADC) holds its Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers in South Africa.

The two-day meeting, taking place from March 12 to 13 at the OR Tambo Building in Pretoria, focuses on strengthening regional cooperation and reviewing progress on programmes aimed at deepening integration among member states.

The summit is being held under the theme “Advancing Industrialisation, Agricultural Transformation and Energy Transition for a Resilient SADC.” The theme was originally adopted during the 45th SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government held in Antananarivo, Madagascar, in August 2025.

South Africa is hosting the meeting in its capacity as Interim Chair of the SADC Council of Ministers, a position it assumed in November 2025. As chair, the country is leading discussions on how the region can strengthen its industrial base, improve agricultural productivity and accelerate the transition to more sustainable energy systems.
