Golf superstar Tiger Woods plans to formally change his plea during a court hearing on Wednesday morning following his March arrest for driving under the influence in Florida.
Court dockets at a Martin County court reflect the scheduled “change of plea” hearing, though his legal team did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the specific details of the change.
The 15-time major champion crashed his SUV into a trailer near his Jupiter Island home in March, leading arresting officers to determine he was impaired.
Authorities found opioid painkillers at the scene, though Woods initially pleaded not guilty to charges of DUI with property damage and refusing to submit to a lawful test, claiming distraction from his phone and radio led to the crash.
Following the incident, Woods stepped away from golf to undergo treatment at an inpatient facility in Switzerland, later making his first public appearance at the Travellers Championship in June.
The upcoming court hearing follows a judge’s recent decision allowing prosecutors, designated law enforcement, and defence lawyers to review Woods’ hospital treatment and prescription drug records.
Woods has suffered extensive health complications in recent years, including multiple back operations and severe leg injuries sustained during a prior car crash in California in 2021.
