Troops Rescue Six Abducted Kidnap Victims in Benue

Troops of Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) rescued six kidnap victims near the Gbise community in the Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.

Acting Media Information Officer Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu confirmed the operation in a statement issued on Saturday in Makurdi, following a tip-off received on September 25, 2026.

“Acting swiftly on the information, the troops immediately mobilised to the location and successfully evacuated the victims to a secure area for safety and further necessary action,” Zubairu stated.

Five of the victims—Gabriel Enujuba, 50; Samson Magbo, 43; Alkasim Modu, 27; Manzo Bello, 27; and Sani Abdullahi, 25—were abducted along the Chenchengi-Takum road.

The sixth victim, 25-year-old Munza Yusuf, reported that armed men kidnapped him directly from his residence in Takum, Taraba State.

Military forces continue to execute aggressive, intelligence-led operations across Benue, Nasarawa, and Taraba states to hunt down the kidnapping syndicate.

Zubairu emphasised that task force commanders have instructed troops to remain vigilant and responsive, reassuring local communities, farmers, and commuters that security forces will maintain relentless pressure against criminal elements in the region.
