U.S. President Donald Trump warned Tuesday that American forces will hit Iran “very hard” unless Tehran reopens the strategic Strait of Hormuz very soon.

Speaking during a visit to California, Trump emphasised that the vital oil transit corridor must resume operations immediately, stating, “The strait is going to be open very soon, or they’re going to get hit very hard — and then the strait’s going to be open.”

Despite the ultimatum, Trump revealed that diplomatic negotiations are actively progressing to resolve the dispute, which escalated following U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran.

Axios reported that the U.S., Iran, and Oman are finalising a 60-day interim agreement to establish safe shipping lanes without toll payments, which Washington hopes to announce shortly.

Trump expressed optimism about the diplomacy, noting, “We’re having very good discussions… The only thing that matters is action. And they want to make a deal. We’ll see what happens.”
