The United Nations (UN) Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, has decried the attacks on United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeepers who were killed in the course of hostilities between Hezbollah and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

Corporal Rico Pramudia, an Indonesian UNIFIL peacekeeper, died after suffering an injury when a shell fired from an IDF tank struck a UNIFIL base in Southern Lebanon on March 29, 2026.

Guterres, in a post on X, revealed that the Indonesian peacekeeper was one of six UNIFIL peacekeepers who have lost their lives, with many injured, following the escalation between Hezbollah and the Israeli military, and demanded an end to the attacks on peacekeepers.

I am saddened to learn that another Indonesian UNIFIL peacekeeper has succumbed to his wounds following an incident in March, when a shell fired from an Israeli Defence Forces tank struck a @UNIFIL_ position in southern Lebanon, according to UNIFIL’s preliminary findings,” Guterres wrote.

“My deepest condolences to the family, friends & colleagues of the fallen peacekeepers, and I wish a full & fast recovery for the other injured. Six peacekeepers serving with UNIFIL have now been killed & several more have been seriously injured following recent incidents amid the hostilities between Hizbullah & the Israel Defence Forces. These attacks must stop.”

The Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, also mourned Pramudia’s passing in a post on X.

“Disheartened to have to share the death of another courageous @UNIFIL_ peacekeeper. Corporal Rico Pramudia of Indonesia, who was critically injured on 29 March, has succumbed to his injuries. My deepest condolences to his family, friends and to the Indonesian Army & Government,” Lacroix wrote.
