VIDEO: Oborevwori Stops Emotional Commissioner From Kneeling

Delta State Commissioner Moses Ogodo broke down in tears during his swearing-in ceremony and attempted to kneel before Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in appreciation for his appointment.

In a video shared on X by the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Ossai Ovie Success, Ogodo became emotional and broke down in tears shortly after taking the oath of office at the Government House in Asaba.

He then attempted to kneel before the governor in appreciation for his appointment.

However, Oborevwori immediately stopped him.

According to Success, the governor urged the new commissioner to stand, saying public service is a shared responsibility.

“Don’t kneel down for me. Stand up. We are here to serve Deltans together,” Oborevwori told the commissioner.

The governor’s response drew applause from guests at the swearing-in ceremony.

Sharing the video on his X page, Success described the moment as one of “tears of joy” and said it reflected the governor’s leadership style.

“Tears Of Joy As Delta Governor Oborevwori Swears In Moses Ogodo as Commissioner,” he wrote.

“It was a moment of tears of joy at the Government House, Asaba, as Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori swore in Hon. Moses Ogodo as Commissioner.”

According to him, the atmosphere became more emotional when Ogodo knelt before the governor after taking the oath of office.

“But Governor Oborevwori quickly stopped him, saying: ‘Don’t kneel down for me. Stand up. We are here to serve Deltans together,’” he added.

Success said the governor’s action demonstrated humility and a commitment to public service.

“That’s leadership. That’s humility. That’s M.O.R.E Agenda in action,” he said.

The video showed the emotional commissioner wiping away tears before approaching the governor.

Oborevwori signalled him to remain standing, and the two later exchanged a handshake as guests applauded.
