Minister of the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, Nyesom Wike, has credited the removal of his administration from the Treasury Single Account (TSA) for enabling a massive wave of infrastructure development in Abuja.
Speaking on Wednesday at the commissioning of the Collector CNO1 link road, Wike thanked President Bola Tinubu for granting the financial autonomy that made the project possible.

He emphasised that the direct access to resources allows the government to execute its planned 31-day streak of consecutive project launches.
Vice President Kashim Shettima represented the president at the event, which drew prominent political figures, lawmakers, and community leaders to the Institution and Research District.

Wike highlighted that the current administration treats all districts equally, ensuring that both satellite towns and inner-city areas receive adequate development.
Following his opening remarks, the minister formally invited the vice president to commission the newly completed roadway.
The mid-year commissioning marathon forms part of the celebrations marking President Tinubu’s third year in office.
Before this infrastructure drive, the FCT Administration operated under the rigid constraints of the federal TSA framework, a centralised system introduced in 2015 to curb corruption by consolidating all government revenues.
Wike aggressively lobbied for an exemption, arguing that the FCT needed commercial flexibility and immediate liquidity rather than bureaucratic red tape to fix decades of abandoned projects.
President Tinubu granted the financial exit, allowing the FCT to leverage its internally generated revenue to secure bank financing and fast-track urban renewal projects like the new university link road.
