Nigerian President Bola Tinubu held closed-door meetings with senior political and government officials at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday evening.
The high-level engagements occurred just hours before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially kicks off campaigns for the 2027 general election.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio arrived at the President’s office around 6:12 pm while Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris was meeting inside with the President.
Representative Alhassan Ado Doguwa of Kano State arrived at 7:15 pm, shortly after Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Gboyega Oyetola reached the premises.

Doguwa had earlier attended the National Peace Committee peace accord signing in Abuja.
Minister of Solid Minerals Development Dele Alake also arrived at the Villa later that evening, likely preparing for Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council meeting.
The officials departed without speaking to journalists, leaving the exact agenda of the meetings undisclosed.
The sudden surge of Villa activity coincides with the official campaign period slated to begin this week.
