Guinean Officer, Camara Gets 10 Years Sentence for Killing Teenage Protester

In Guinea, a security officer who killed a 19-year-old has been given a 10-year jail term. During protests against the opposition alliance last June, Moriba Camara fatally shot Thierno Mamadou Diallo.

The victim’s sibling reportedly complained that the court’s lighter sentence of 10 years was inappropriate for the crime for which the prosecution had asked for a longer 25-year prison term for Camara.
