Violent confrontations have broken out in Bahri, Sudan, pitting the army against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Bahri, also referred to as Khartoum North, constitutes one of the interconnected cities forming the capital region.
According to reports, the army successfully thwarted a significant offensive launched by the RSF against a military installation on Saturday.
The escalation in hostilities follows the recent recapture of the state broadcaster’s headquarters by the army.
Recent developments indicate that the army has made substantial gains, consolidating control over much of Omdurman, situated adjacent to Khartoum across the Nile River.
