Nigeria Triumphs Over Morocco to Win African U19 Beach Volleyball Championship

Nigeria has emerged victorious in the 2024 African U19 Girls Beach Volleyball Nations Championship held in Morocco. The Nigerian pair, Esther Mbah and Pamela Bawa, secured a decisive 2-0 (21-8, 21-8) victory over Morocco in the women’s final at Martil Beach in Tanger on Thursday.

Throughout the group stages, Nigeria demonstrated their dominance by defeating Congo DR 2-0 (21-13, 21-6) and Morocco Team B 2-0 (21-8, 21-11) to top Pool B. They continued their impressive performance in the semifinals, where they triumphed over Gambia 2-0 (21-3, 21-9).

Esther Mbah, captain of Nigeria’s U19 beach volleyball team, expressed her joy at winning the U19 African Beach Volleyball Nations Championship and qualifying for the 2024 FIVB U19 Beach Volleyball World Championship in China, scheduled from 27th August to 1st September. She praised the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, led by Engineer Musa Nimrod, for their support and efforts in promoting Nigerian volleyball on the continental stage.

In related news, Nigeria’s men’s team secured a bronze medal at the 2024 African U19 Boys Beach Volleyball Nations Championship in Cote d’Ivoire. The duo of Victor Eze and Ndifrike George defeated Congo 2-0 (21-11, 21-13) in the third-place match.
