The Israeli military announced on Thursday that, following an intelligence assessment, it could confirm Deif’s death in the strike.

Deif, one of the founding members of the Qassam Brigades in the 1990s, had been a key figure in Hamas’ resistance against Israel for decades.

Under his leadership, the Qassam Brigades carried out numerous bombings against occupying Israeli forces and developed a significant arsenal of rockets capable of striking deep into Israel.
