Sowore Freed After Airport Detention

Omoleye Sowore, the organiser of the #RevolutionNow movement, has been released after a brief detention at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos State.

Sowore was held by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) upon his arrival in Nigeria.
It was reported on Thursday, September 12, 2024, that a memo from the Department of State Services (DSS) instructing Sowore’s arrest upon his return had been leaked.

Sowore, who initially announced his detention on his X account, later confirmed his release.

He wrote;
“I have just been released by the Nigerian Immigration after a brief detention and my passport released back to me. #RevolutionNow”
