Erling Haaland has praised his new strike partner Omar Marmoush, calling him a “fantastic” addition to Manchester City after the forward’s impressive debut in the 3-1 win over Chelsea on Saturday.
Marmoush, who joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt for £59 million this week, had a goal ruled out for offside but showed glimpses of his talent, particularly in the first half. Haaland, who scored twice in the victory, believes Marmoush’s potential is clear.
“He has something special, and that’s why Manchester City bought him,” said Haaland. “It’s about giving him confidence, and he’s going to be a fantastic player for us.”
Marmoush had a stellar season with Frankfurt, scoring 20 goals in 26 appearances, and Haaland is hopeful the Egyptian will continue that form at City.
The win moved City into fourth place, and Haaland is optimistic about their prospects as they look ahead to a crucial week, including a Champions League clash with Club Brugge and a Premier League showdown with Arsenal.
