Napoli secured their fourth Serie A title on Friday with a 2-0 home victory over Cagliari, fending off a final-day challenge from Inter Milan to claim the Italian crown.
In a pulsating evening at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, goals from Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku ensured the Neapolitans finished one point ahead of Inter, whose 2-0 win over Como proved ultimately irrelevant.
The title marks Napoli’s second in just three seasons, and their fans erupted in celebration as McTominay’s superb strike and Lukaku’s powerful finish confirmed their side’s status as champions once again.
Inter, the outgoing title holders, were handed a slight advantage in their own match after Como were reduced to ten men following veteran goalkeeper Pepe Reina’s red card in what was his final professional appearance. Stefan de Vrij and Joaquin Correa scored for the Milan side, but their efforts were not enough to reclaim top spot.

Napoli’s opener came three minutes before the interval, when McTominay volleyed home from a Matteo Politano cross. The Scotland international has been a revelation under coach Antonio Conte, having joined late in the summer but quickly becoming a key figure in Napoli’s resurgence after a dismal title defence the previous year.
Lukaku added the second goal early in the second half, controlling a long ball from Amir Rrahmani and brushing off Yerry Mina before blasting past the keeper, setting off wild celebrations in the stands.
Correa added a second for Inter moments later, but attention in Milan had already shifted to next weekend’s Champions League final in Munich, where Simone Inzaghi’s team will face Paris Saint-Germain.
Inter’s domestic campaign was undone by dropping a dozen points from winning positions, and their weakened line-up against Como suggested that Inzaghi had already prioritised European glory.
After harbouring ambitions of repeating their historic treble under Jose Mourinho in 2010, Inter now face the prospect of finishing a long and demanding season without silverware—unless they can claim victory in Munich.
