Police Recover Nine Unexploded Devices in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has recovered nine unexploded ordnances from the site of the recent explosion at Yongxing Steel Company, located along Ring Road in Mariri.

The disclosure was made in a statement by the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Hussaini Abdullahi.

According to Abdullahi, the blast was triggered by an unexploded ordnance (UXO), not an improvised explosive device (IED) as initially speculated.

The statement noted, “In addition to the earlier seven recovered UXOs, two more were found, bringing the total to nine.”

Police investigations revealed the UXOs were unknowingly transported with scrap metal from Yobe State and one detonated accidentally during offloading at the steel company.

The command urged residents to remain calm and avoid panic.

“There is no imminent security threat,” the statement assured, while also encouraging the public to report any suspicious activity.
