Lagos Seals Lekki Estate Over Sewage

The Lagos State Government has sealed Myca 7 Court in Van Daniel Estate, off Orchid Road, Lekki, for allegedly discharging sewage into public drains.

State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed the action in a post on X on Saturday. He said the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) carried out the enforcement after receiving public complaints about the pollution.

According to Wahab, “Following public outcry, and in pursuit of a safe and cleaner Lagos, the LSWMO this morning sealed Myca 7 Court, Van Daniel Estate, Off Orchid Road, Lekki, for deliberately discharging sewage into public drains via a pumping machine. This act constitutes a public nuisance, causes environmental pollution, and endangers human life.

“Every act of environmental nuisance and pollution poses serious risks to public health and will attract appropriate sanctions or prosecution.”
