Manchester City will miss Omar Marmoush in Sunday’s derby against Manchester United after the Egypt forward sustained a knee injury on international duty.
The 26-year-old, who joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt for £59 million in January, limped off in the ninth minute of Egypt’s World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou on Tuesday. The match ended goalless.

Marmoush suffered the injury following a heavy challenge in the fourth minute. Although he briefly played on after treatment, he was replaced shortly afterwards by Osama Faisal.
City confirmed that initial scans in Egypt ruled him out of the Etihad clash, adding that he will return to Manchester for further assessment and rehabilitation.
Marmoush has scored eight goals in 28 appearances for City. His absence compounds Pep Guardiola’s selection worries, with summer signing Rayan Cherki sidelined by a hamstring problem and Phil Foden missing City’s defeat to Brighton before the international break.
