Most of those who endorsed the appeal are footballers, among them Crystal Palace and Mali midfielder Cheick Doucouré, Morocco international Hakim Ziyech, and former Dutch international Anwar El Ghazi.
The intervention comes days after eight United Nations experts called on both FIFA and UEFA to bar Israel from international competitions, citing the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
Since October 2023, Israeli military actions have killed at least 66,005 Palestinians and injured more than 168,000, the majority of them women and children.
The blockade on humanitarian aid has also led to famine-related deaths, with 442 people, including 147 children, confirmed dead.
UEFA is expected to vote soon on whether to suspend Israel’s membership amid mounting pressure from athletes, human rights organisations, and international bodies.
