A man was arrested in Virginia on Thursday in connection with allegedly planting pipe bombs near the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Republican National Committee (RNC) offices in Washington, D.C., on the night before the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
The devices, which failed to detonate, were discovered the next day as supporters of then-President Donald Trump stormed the US Capitol.

The FBI, which had been investigating the case for years and had increased its reward for information to $500,000, took the suspect into custody.
The arrest marks the first breakthrough in the high-profile investigation. The identity of the arrested individual has not yet been released.
