Jetten to Form Dutch Minority Cabinet

Rob Jetten, leader of the centrist D66 party, announced on Friday that he has reached an agreement to form a minority government alongside the VVD liberals and the centre-right CDA.

This deal comes nearly three months after the October 29 elections, where D66 emerged as the unexpected frontrunner.

The three-party coalition holds a combined 66 seats, which falls short of a majority in the 150-seat Dutch parliament.

Consequently, the 38-year-old Jetten and his partners intend to spend the coming weeks negotiating with other political leaders to secure the support necessary to pass their legislative agenda.

Jetten expressed optimism about the stability of this arrangement, stating the group aims for an ambitious programme and a constructive relationship with parliament to move the country forward after months of political uncertainty.
