The Federal Fire Service has said that part of Leventis Plaza in Abuja was gutted by fire on Sunday, affecting a tailoring workshop on the first floor of the commercial complex.
According to the service’s spokesperson, Paul Abraham, the blaze is suspected to have been caused by an electrical surge. Firefighters acted quickly to contain the fire, preventing it from spreading to other sections of the plaza and nearby facilities, including Grand Square, The Palm Hotels, and Frazier’s Suites.
Abraham said the Federal Fire Service received the emergency call and immediately dispatched the Special Unit from the National Headquarters. Led by SF Adoko, the team arrived within five minutes and quickly brought the fire under control.
“Firefighters carried out operations, salvage, and overhaul procedures, followed by a thorough inspection of the affected area. Their timely intervention protected most of the property before further damage could occur.”
The Fire Service reiterated its commitment to public safety and urged citizens to exercise caution when installing electrical systems to prevent similar incidents.
