Adamawa Pauses as Tinubu Visits

Adamawa State’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Iliya James, has announced that several major roads in the state will be temporarily closed to ensure a smooth and secure visit by President Bola Tinubu on Monday. 

The affected routes include the Airport-Kofare Road through Galadima Aminu Way and Bank Road, the Jimeta Grade Interchange and Police Roundabout axis, Justice Buba Ardo Way, Adamawa Sunshine Express-Faro Road, along with adjoining roads.

The government encouraged residents to turn out peacefully to receive the President, while advising motorists to use alternative routes during the closures. It appealed for public cooperation and understanding throughout the visit.

According to the state authorities, the President’s itinerary includes the inauguration of projects completed under Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s administration. 

Among them are the newly built underpass at the former Bekaji Roundabout, the upgraded Bank Road in Yola, and a model school in Yola North Local Government Area, one of 21 recently constructed across the state.

Tinubu is also scheduled to perform the groundbreaking ceremony for a permanent NYSC orientation camp in Malkohi, commission a new High Court Complex, unveil an automated gate at Government House, and inaugurate a newly constructed Governor’s Office complex. 

The commissioner noted that the projects span sectors including education, infrastructure, justice administration, governance, security, healthcare, and human capital development.

Meanwhile, the Adamawa State Police Command has tightened security arrangements ahead of the visit. The Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo, has directed the deployment of operational units, including the Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Surveillance Squad, and traffic control teams, to maintain order.

Police authorities also indicated that covert surveillance operations would be conducted across the state to ensure the President’s visit proceeds without incident.
