The trial of a former minister of power who is currently facing prosecution, Saleh Mamman, has been adjourned till February 26, 2026.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in a statement detailing the outcome of Monday’s court hearing, revealed that his trial could not proceed on Monday due to the former minister’s legal counsel’s failure to present a witness.
“The trial of the former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman before Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, sitting in Maitama, Abuja, could not continue on Monday, February 23, 2026, due to the inability of the defence team to produce its witness in court,” the statement read in part.

“At Monday’s proceedings, the defence counsel, Femi Atteh, SAN, informed the court that he was unable to subpoena its witness because the witness was unavailable in the office. He therefore sought additional time to enable him to subpoena the witness.”
Mamman is being prosecuted by the EFCC over alleged fraud and money laundering related to the Mambilla and Zungeru Hydroelectric Power projects. He is facing a 12-count charge, bordering on conspiracy to commit money laundering to the tune of N33,804,830,503.73. His case began in July 2024. The former minister pleaded not guilty upon arraignment.
Multiple prosecution witnesses have appeared in court on different occasions, giving evidence ranging from handling large cash transfers allegedly tied to Mamman to involvement in property transactions allegedly funded by diverted funds.
