The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Moshood Jimoh, has said police operatives are servants of Nigerians, but not slaves.

“You are my boss. I am your servant, but I am not your slave. They are two different things. Police is your friend. But we want to be more than friends. We want to be partners now. We want you to put your trust and confidence in us, and we will serve you better. So that will be a point of encouragement and happiness for police officers,” said Moshood.

Moshood made this remark while speaking on News Central’s show, A Place At The Table, on Thursday.

The Lagos Commissioner of Police further urged Nigerians to trust the police, restore confidence in the force and be law-abiding citizens.

“Friendship is a mutual understanding. You don’t write off your friend. The police is your friend. You must own your police. Being law-abiding is part of how we can help the police get things done properly in Nigeria. You will agree with me that the generality of people are not law-abiding. If you are not law-abiding. We will continue to do our best,” he added.

Earlier, Moshood praised Nigerian police operatives and described the NPF as the best in Africa.

“There is no perfection anywhere in the world. Even in the United States, Europe, and Asian countries, they still have things to balance. I keep on saying it, the Nigerian police force is the best across Africa. In every mission we go on, we become the best,” said Jimoh
