French Minister to Visit Lebanon

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot is scheduled to arrive in Lebanon this Thursday, a move confirmed by the French foreign ministry following European Union calls for Israel to cease its military operations in the country.

The ministry stated that Barrot’s visit is intended to demonstrate France’s “support and solidarity” with the Lebanese population, whom they described as being caught in a conflict they did not initiate.

The current hostilities in Lebanon escalated on March 2, when Hezbollah militants launched rocket attacks against Israel following the death of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

In the ensuing weeks, Israeli retaliatory strikes have resulted in a significant humanitarian crisis.

According to local authorities, the conflict has claimed at least 968 lives and forced more than one million people to flee their homes, drawing intense international concern over the mounting civilian toll.
