A viral video that surfaced on Friday showing disturbing scenes of alleged sexual assault involving several women during a local festival in Ozoro, Delta State, has caused outrage across social media.
The footage shows groups of young men reportedly attacking women in public, forcefully tearing their clothes and subjecting them to various forms of molestation.
The incident is said to have taken place on Thursday, March 19, during the annual festival in Ozoro, where women are traditionally expected to stay indoors throughout the event. According to reports, women found outside during the festival are allegedly targeted by participants for harassment.
This deeply troubling practice has sparked an outcry from the public, with many demanding justice for the victims involved.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that the victims were subjected to varying degrees of abuse, with some alleging that the assaults went beyond molestation, including possible rape. However, these claims remain unconfirmed as official investigations have yet to verify the full extent of the abuse.
The disturbing video has prompted widespread condemnation, with many questioning the community’s failure to protect its women and the broader societal issues that allow such violence to occur during a public celebration.
Residents of the community allege that multiple cases of molestation and rape have occurred since the festival began.
