A 45-year-old Massachusetts man, Andrew Emerald, has been arrested for allegedly threatening to kill US President Donald Trump through a series of posts on Facebook, officials announced Wednesday.
According to a Justice Department press release, Emerald allegedly wrote eight messages in May 2025 in which he threatened to injure or kill Trump.
One post reportedly stated, “Either Trump is dead and in the ground by 2026 or I am hunting him down and putting him there.”
In another post, Emerald allegedly threatened to attack Trump’s Florida resort, writing: “I’ll make sure you’re at Mar-a-Lago when I burn it to the f****** ground.”

Emerald has been indicted on eight counts of interstate transmission of threatening communications, which carries a maximum prison sentence of five years.
The arrest follows other cases involving online threats against Trump.
In March, a Virginia man was sentenced to over two years in prison for sending threats to kill the US president.
Trump narrowly survived an assassination attempt in July 2024 when a gunman fired at him during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.
