President Donald Trump marked the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks at the Pentagon on Friday, vowing that the United States would never forget the tragedy.
Skipping the primary commemoration in New York, Trump linked the historic “War on Terror” directly to the ongoing seven-month military campaign against Iran alongside Israel, declaring that victory remains the nation’s only option.
Accompanied by First Lady Melania Trump, the president honoured the 184 victims killed when hijackers struck the Pentagon in 2001.
During his address, Trump praised American service members and insisted that military action must prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth echoed the administration’s aggressive posture, stating that U.S. forces have spent the last six months laying waste to the Iranian regime despite an ongoing stalemate over the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump also targeted domestic political opponents, using the anniversary to criticise political “fanatics” following a Republican midterm convention where party leaders accused Democrats of sympathising with the 9/11 attackers.
The president argued that ultimate victory over the perpetrators of 9/11 depends on internal national unity rather than foreign battlefields alone, framing the upcoming elections around defeating far-left political rivals.
