Police Disown Fake Constables Training Announcement

The Nigeria Police Force has disowned a purported press release announcing the commencement of training for 50,000 newly recruited police constables.

The statement, titled “IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu Directs Commencement Of Training For 50,000 Newly Recruited Police Constables,” has been circulating and bearing the name and designation of the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu.

In a disclaimer issued on Friday, the police said it neither issued nor authorised the document.

“The Nigeria Police Force disclaims the purported Press Release titled, ‘IGP OLATUNJI RILWAN DISU DIRECTS COMMENCEMENT OF TRAINING FOR 50,000 NEWLY RECRUITED POLICE CONSTABLES,’ currently in circulation,” the statement said.

The Force urged members of the public, particularly police recruitment candidates, to disregard the purported release.

It advised recruitment candidates to rely only on information published through the official police recruitment portal and the Nigeria Police Force’s verified communication channels.

The police also said it had commenced efforts to identify those responsible for producing and circulating the false document.

“The Force is currently on the trail of the persons responsible for generating and circulating the false document,” the statement added.

The police warned the public against relying on unverified recruitment information and urged candidates to confirm any announcement through official NPF channels before acting.
