Maguire Extends United Stay with New Deal

Harry Maguire is set to remain at Manchester United for at least another season, following the signing of a new one-year contract with an additional option for a further year.

The England centre-back, 33, was in the final months of his existing deal, but this extension ensures his continued presence at Old Trafford.

Maguire, who joined United in a £80 million move from Leicester in 2019, expressed his pride in representing the club.

“Representing Manchester United is the ultimate honour,” he said in a statement. “It is a responsibility that makes myself and my family proud every single day.” He went on to add, “I am delighted to extend my journey at this incredible club to at least eight seasons and continue to play in front of our special supporters to create more amazing moments together.”

“You can feel the ambition and potential of this exciting squad. The determination throughout the whole club to fight for major trophies is clear for everyone to see, and I am confident that our best moments together remain ahead of us.”

Maguire has made 266 appearances for United, winning both the FA Cup and League Cup. His solid form has not only made him a reliable figure for Manchester United but also earned him a recall to the England squad after an 18-month absence. He played both friendlies at Wembley last month, increasing his chances of participating in this year’s World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Jason Wilcox, United’s director of football, praised Maguire’s professionalism

“Harry represents the mentality and resilience required to perform for Manchester United. He is the ultimate professional who brings invaluable experience and leadership to our young, ambitious squad.” Wilcox said.

Maguire is currently with the senior squad at a training camp in Dublin. United will return to league action on April 13, when they face Leeds at Old Trafford after a brief break due to international fixtures and an early exit from cup competitions.
