The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has extended the deadline for filing individual annual income tax returns to April 21, 2026.
This was announced in a statement signed by LIRS Executive Chairman, Ayodele Subair.
The window for filing annual income tax returns ought to have closed on March 31, but was extended to April 14.
According to Subair, the deadline was extended to enable taxpayers in the state more time to fulfil their tax obligations. He added that the electronic tax platform has seen increased traffic as taxpayers rushed to comply with the previous deadline.

“In view of this development, and to ensure that all taxpayers are provided with adequate opportunity to successfully complete their filings, LIRS hereby announces a further extension of the deadline, now set for April 21, 2026,” the statement read.
“This additional extension is granted in consideration of the overwhelming response and to enhance taxpayer convenience, while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of submissions.”
Subair added that filing annual income tax returns remains a statutory obligation and urged taxpayers to take advantage of what he described as a final extension. He also said that all returns must be filed electronically through the designated eTax platform.
The chairman reaffirmed that the online platform remains the only approved channel for submissions. Subair also advised taxpayers requiring assistance to visit any LIRS office or contact its official communication channels.
