Nigerian Senator, Gbenga Daniel, who represents Ogun East, was prohibited from attending a meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ijebu Ode on Monday, April 20, 2026.
A viral video on social media shows the moment the senator’s convoy was turned away from the Adeola Odutola Hall, where the APC caucus meeting was taking place. Speaking to his supporters from inside a white bus parked outside the venue, Daniel said any decisions made at the meeting would be invalid.
“We are here for our Ogun East APC caucus meeting, but surprisingly, we have been barred,” he said in Yoruba. “Whatever they do here today is null and void.”
Recall that in August 2025, the Ogun State chapter of the APC suspended Daniel indefinitely due to alleged anti-party activities.

According to reports, Daniel had asked his supporters to vote for a candidate from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in an August 2025 by-election, which the APC candidate won. Daniel, a former governor of Ogun State, was first elected to the Senate in 2023 and is now seeking a second term.
Also, Governor Dapo Abiodun is running for the APC ticket in the Ogun East senatorial district. The race for the party’s ticket has created tension between the two politicians. As of Monday night, the APC had not officially explained why Daniel was locked out of the meeting. His supporters gathered outside the hall, calling the action unfair. The meeting continued inside without him.
