Von Batten-Montague-York, a United States-based lobbying firm, has slammed Nigerian President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, for inciting disruption within the African Democratic Congress (ADC). It also raised concerns over electoral interference by Nigerian government officials.

The lobbying firm, in a post shared on X on Tuesday, reacted to a viral video of Gbajabiamila, urging Leke Abejide, a lawmaker representing the Yagba federal constituency in Kogi, to remain in the African Democratic Congress, “fight and scatter” the party.

According to Von Batten-Montague-York, Gbajabiamila’s actions raise concerns regarding potential electoral interference.

“Additionally, a circulating video, the authenticity and full context of which remain under review, of Nigerian President #Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, (@femigbaja), allegedly inciting disruption of Nigerian opposition party (@ADCNig) activities, is concerning, particularly as the alleged disruption is reportedly being cited by Nigeria’s electoral authorities (@inecnigeria) as justification for invalidating opposition party leadership,” the post read.

“This raises further concerns regarding potential electoral interference. There are also claims that Mr Gbajabiamila holds U.S. citizenship and that his alleged statements could be construed as incitement affecting U.S. interests.”

The firm said that members of the Republican Party who serve in the US House of Representatives have instructed it to keep them informed about election integrity concerns and allegations that Nigerian officials may be complicit in violence and targeted attacks against Christian communities in Northern Nigeria.

It added that US President Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans have vowed not to ignore actions by the Nigerian Government which circumvent the will of the electorate to retain power.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar had reportedly hired Von Batten-Montague-York, LC., to protect and strengthen his reputation in the US.

The lobbying firm reportedly said it would “advance understanding” of Atiku’s “leadership posture and policy vision” among policymakers, while providing  Atiku with “guidance on policy positioning, reputational considerations, and engagement strategy”.
