The Nigerian Armed Forces has said its troops killed more than 30 terrorists during a coordinated offensive by the Operation Hadin Kai in Borno State.

According to the military, air and ground forces carried out precision strikes along the Lake Chad waterways near Kaniram Island after receiving intelligence on terrorist movements and logistics activities linked to the Islamic State West Africa Province.

Air assets maintained surveillance and confirmed the presence of more than 30 boats used by insurgents to coordinate movement and resupply operations. Following careful target identification, troops launched strikes that destroyed several boats and disrupted the group’s logistics network.

The military said the operation significantly weakened the terrorists’ mobility and operational capacity, while follow-up strikes targeted fleeing fighters, leading to the neutralisation of over 30 insurgents. Survivors reportedly fled in disarray, indicating a breakdown in their command structure.

In a separate operation, forces also conducted precision-guided strikes in the Sambisa Forest, destroying three gun trucks and killing additional militants.

Post-strike assessments, supported by intelligence reports, indicated heavy losses among insurgents, including evidence of mass burials in areas such as Mallam Fatori. Ground troops are now advancing to secure the surrounding areas and prevent regrouping.

Military authorities praised the troops for their performance and urged them to maintain sustained pressure on insurgent groups until they are fully defeated.
